The book of Ecclesiastes was written by Solomon. Solomon begins by saying "Meaningless Meaningless" says the teacher "Utterly meaningless! Everything is Meaningless" (Eccl 1: 2)
Now you may be wondering why he saying that everything is meaningless and that everything in life actually has meaning. For examples; our jobs - to provide us with money to provide for our families or even our homes for shelter, schools for education etc.
Now what if I told you that you are correct but you are wrong and if you don't understand the purpose of all these earthly things and why you have it IT IS THEREFOR MEANINGLESS TO YOU!
Solomon wrote this book to show us and to open our to the things of of this world that will fade away. Yes we have all these things but if we do not have the most important thing in our lives which is GOD it is therefore counted as meaningless.
Solomon continues to refer to the line " a chasing after the wind" in almost every chapter.
Chasing after the wind simply refers to something that you cannot catch or you will not get.
So whatever it is that you are chasing after and God isn't part of it, it is considered to be meaningless.
You will never get what you want unless God is part of it or infact 100% part of it.
In life we think of all sorts of question such as
1. What is the meaning of life?
2. Why am I here? What is my purpose?
3. Why do I feel as if I can't go anymore? Why do I feel as if I am just being buried by the work around me?
We ask God these questions and sometimes ourselves. By reading the book of Ecclesiastic I hope that all your answers will be answered and you learn and change from your ways and the way you think and do things.
