Ecclesiastes 5:10 " Whoever loves money never has enough whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless"
Earthly treasures are meaningless. You could be richest man in the country, world; the most popular singer, dancer, writer etc. But if you are doing it for yourself and you are not glorifying God, and not finding pleasure what you are doing it is considered to be meaningless.
For the people who love money, they would never be content with what they have. They would always want more. Having $1,000,000 isn't enough, they want more.
But at the end of it when you die? What is going to happen to the $1,000,000 that you stored up at home? It is going to be useless.
You aren't going to die with it? And if your sick, and on your death bed , you may be thinking , I should of done something better with the money I had. I should of enjoy my life rather than just wanting more and more.
Money cannot bring you Happiness ! Money and Wealth cannot bring you JOY ! It cannot bring you LOVE !
Happiness, Joy, Love, Peace all these things COME FROM GOD!
We cannot expect to have worldly things, seeking after worldly things and get something from God.
Happiness to enjoy life and what we have is from God. Because when we acknowledge that what we have is a gift from God we enjoy it a little more. We understand that we have something and someone else has.
Look at it this way. All a child longs for is a bike. For his birthday you buy him this bike. What is he going to do ? Not tell everyone that, mommy and daddy bought him a bike? Won't he want to "show off" the "gift" that you bought him? Won't he enjoy riding the bike?
Same thing when God gives us gives. We need to boast about the gifts that God is giving us. We need to tell others of the gifts he has given to us. We need to thank Him for giving it to us and ENJOY the gift. Because we know that gives it to us. We are not happy and finding pleasure in the gift but rather in God who gives us the gift and thus we are happy.
Eccl 5: 19-20 " Moreover when God gives someone wealth and possessions and the ability to enjoy the, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil - this is a gift of God." They seldom reflect on the days of their life because God keeps them occupied with gladness of their heart."
Focus on the Giver of the Gift rather than the gift. The Giver of all our gifts are GOD. So our focus at all times should be on HIM !
